What We Believe

The Word of God

The Bible is the only inspired Word of God to man and is changeless.  It thoroughly provides man with all that is needed for this life and in the life to come in spiritual matters.  The Word of God is complete and final for all ages.

The Godhead

God being one has revealed Himself in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  The Trinity is equal in power, nature and attributes but diverse in ministry.

The Person and Work of Christ

Jesus Christ, the only Son of God and sole Mediator of the New Covenant, was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and fulfilled the purpose of His Father by offering Himself as the substitute sacrifice for the sins of the whole world.  He arose bodily from the dead on the third day and ascended into heaven until His enemies be made a footstool for His feet.  He took on a body like ours for the purpose of dying, but was never at any point less than God.

Justification

Salvation is provided by God, motivated by His changeless love and offered to all people through His matchless grace on the basis of faith alone.  Each person who believes the Gospel is declared righteous (justified) by the Lord and is so for all time and eternity.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is God and ministers to the world by convicting men of sin, righteousness and judgment.  He also seals the believer for all eternity and empowers the believer to live a godly life.  He teaches the things of Christ to each believer by illuminating His Word.  He protects us from the evil one and intercedes for us according to the will of God.  He is the Author of the Bible, known as the “sword of the Spirit.”  He gives to each believer a gift(s) for the building up of the Body of Christ.

Judgment of the Lost

The Great White Throne refers to the condemnation of all who do not know Christ as their Savior.  All unregenerated sinners will be consigned to the Lake of Fire for eternity.

Judgment of Believers

Believers’ works will be judged before the throne of Christ and will be rewarded for faithfulness and or loss of reward for lack thereof.  A believer may never be judged for sin since that judgment has been received by the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior once for all.

Resurrection

Believers will be resurrected sinless and given an immortal body like unto the Lord Jesus Christ’s and will dwell with the Lord for all eternity.  Unbelievers will be resurrected physically and cast into the Lake of Fire and will remain there throughout eternity.

Ordinances

There are two ordinances that the church has been given to observe -- water baptism by immersion and the Lord ’s Supper.  We believe the bread and wine are symbols that remind us of the Lord’s sacrifice for our sins.  And that baptism is an outward way of proclaiming our personal belief in the person and work of Christ on our behalf.  Physically being baptized does not save anyone.

Sign Gifts for the Church Age

We believe that Tongues were a sign gift to the unbelieving Jews (1Cor.14:22) who had rejected their Savior, and that Tongues ceased after that generation passed away.  That miraculous signs and wonders were manifested to establish the authority of the Apostles and writers of the New Testament documents and also ceased when the Word was completed.

Rapture

We believe in the rapture of the church from the earth prior to the Great Tribulation on the Feast of Trumpets.  Following the Tribulation period Christ will return to reign with the saints for one thousand years upon the earth.  That Christ will create a new heavens and earth where righteous will dwell forever after the millennium period.
